The big-hearted cats at the shelter shower comfort and affection on a sick and visually impaired dog, showing remarkable compassion.

The heartwarming story takes place at the Ferme Refuge Sunshine Animal Refuge Agadir (SARA) in Morocco, where a team of devoted and affectionate cats has taken it upon themselves to provide comfort and tenderness to their friend, Tam, a 9-year-old visually impaired dog suffering from various health problems, including Ehlers-Danlos syndrome.

Tam was born at the shelter and has known no other home, receiving care and love from the staff and feline companions. Ehlers-Danlos syndrome affects his joints and skin, causing physical discomfort that also affects his mood. During moments of low spirits, Tam finds solace in the company of his sister, Daccia, who also suffers from the same genetic condition and shares a strong bond with him.

Among the cats, Tam has found a special friend in Elodie, as well as other feline companions. The cats have developed a habit of gathering around Tam to offer him hugs and massages, reassuring him that he is not alone. In return, Tam is gentle and calm with his feline friends, often sharing his basket with at least two cats, providing them with the perfect pillow for napping.

While many animals at the shelter find adoptive families, Tam and Daccia have not been as fortunate due to their illness. Despite this, they have found a loving and supportive family within the shelter’s community.

The Ferme Refuge Sunshine Animal Refuge Agadir is one of three shelters under the Sunshine Animal Refuge Agadir association. It currently houses around 200 rescued cats and elderly and sick dogs, all receiving care and attention from the dedicated staff and volunteers.
The story of Tam and his compassionate feline friends serves as a heartwarming reminder of the powerful bonds that can form between animals, regardless of their species, and how they can provide comfort and companionship in times of need.
