In a heartwarming rescue, a young mom cat named Baklava was saved by the Esther Neonatal Kitten Alliance in South Carolina. She was critically ill, severely emaciated, and struggling to keep her kittens alive.

The rescue specialized in caring for newborns and pregnant or nursing moms, making it the perfect place for Baklava and her kittens. Despite her condition, Baklava fought to care for her babies.

Her rescuers knew they faced a tough battle to save them, but they were determined to help. Baklava received around-the-clock medical care and was fed via a syringe to regain her strength.

After just 36 hours, Baklava showed signs of improvement and started eating on her own. Her recovery was a miraculous transformation, and within a couple of weeks, she was like a brand new cat.
Sadly, only one of Baklava’s kittens, Empanada, was strong enough to survive. The others were too weak despite all efforts to save them.

Baklava’s young age when she became pregnant highlighted the importance of spaying young cats to prevent such risks. Thanks to donors’ support, Baklava and Empanada had a chance at a better life and will soon find forever homes.
The Esther Neonatal Kitten Alliance expressed their gratitude to their donors, as their support saved Baklava and her surviving kitten. They are now living happily and surrounded by love.
