Amidst a gripping two-day ordeal, the trapped kitten’s rescue from between large boulders brings hope and freedom.

After being trapped between two large construction boulders for at least two days, a tiny cream-colored kitten was rescued thanks to the determination of the homeowner. Upon hearing the meows for help, she immediately sought to find and save the distressed kitten.

The incident occurred at a home on Greenville Avenue in Johnson, Rhode Island. The kitten had managed to get wedged in a narrow gap between the two rocks, just a few inches apart. The homeowner saw the kitten in distress and promptly called for assistance.

Firefighters and officers from the Johnson Police Animal Control arrived at the scene and used a specialized tool called The Jaws of Life to carefully pry the large boulders apart. Despite being terrified, the kitten was comforted by the gentle strokes of the rescuers as they worked to free him.

Officer Erin Medeiros shared, “He was quiet when we did that. All the guys tried to figure out the best way to handle the situation, and some got on one side, while others got on the other side, ensuring a safe rescue even if something cracked. We had multiple firefighters holding on.”

The resilient kitten earned the nickname “Soldier” and was described as a little trooper. The rescue operation was a success, and the officers were elated to save not only multiple dogs but also this remarkable little kitten, aptly named Stunner, meaning miracle.
Officer Medeiros expressed her gratitude to the Johnson Fire Department and The Jaws of Life for their assistance in saving the kitten. She also thanked Julie Ring for providing a foster home for Stunner without hesitation.
Despite the ordeal, Stunner proved to be a beauty and a fighter. He is now thriving in foster care, surrounded by the love and care he deserves.
