Found in a basket at a park, a kitten is soon accepted by a generous cat and her litter of six, creating a heartwarming tale of unexpected family bonding and love.

A heavily pregnant cat was taken to Animal Control, and before a local rescue could take her in, she gave birth to six kittens inside her kennel. The rescue, Be Their Voice Animal Rescue, received the cat named Lucy and her litter the next day. Lucy settled into her foster home with purrs and biscuits, showing that she must have been a pet at some point.

Lucy had six kittens to feed, and at first, she wasn’t eating enough. However, with supportive care and good food, her appetite improved, and she started taking care of her babies. A few days later, the rescue was contacted about a tiny kitten found in a basket at a park. The kitten, named Rerun, was just a few days old and needed round-the-clock care. The rescue decided to introduce him to Lucy to see if she would accept him.

Amazingly, Lucy immediately accepted Rerun as part of her family and started caring for him as her own. She came running to him and began cleaning him, and he nursed from her alongside her own kittens. Rerun, being the smallest, needed some help with feeding, so the rescue started supplementing him while Lucy took care of the rest. Lucy and the rescue are co-parenting Rerun, and he is doing wonderfully, making good gains and snuggling with his new family all day. With the love and care of his new cat mom and foster family, Rerun has a bright future ahead.
