Witness the poignant story of a stray cat’s traumatic encounter with tissue necrosis, prompting immediate rescue and compassionate care.

The story of Pina, the seven-year-old stray cat, is a mix of hardship and hope. When she was found on the street, her ears were suffering from tissue necrosis, leaving them charred and black instead of their natural fluffy pink tips. Pina was not social, hissing and scratching at her rescuers, but it was not due to a bad temperament; it was because of the severe pain she had endured for many months.

Upon examination, veterinarians discovered that Pina’s illness was a consequence of sunburn that had developed into progressive cancer. Part of one of her ears was hanging by a thread. The Bradford Cat Watch Rescue Kittens team had to perform a four-hour surgery to remove all the affected tissue due to squamous cell carcinoma. The surgery and subsequent treatment cost the organization a significant amount.

Now, after a ten-day recovery period, Pina needs special protection, and her ears must be constantly lubricated with factor 50 sunscreen. Volunteers are hopeful that someone will adopt Pina. Despite her initially hissing and unfriendly behavior, they know that she is actually a kind, soft, and affectionate pet who loves cuddling and spending time in people’s arms.

Ideally, Pina should be a house cat that does not go outside or, if she goes outside, her ears should not be exposed to direct sunlight. The constant protection of a special cream is essential for her well-being.

Despite her long-suffering past, there is hope that Pina will eventually find a loving forever home with someone who will provide her with the care and protection she needs.
