The heartwarming and touching story of Capitan, the loyal German Shepherd, showcases the depth of love and loyalty that dogs can have for their owners. Even after his owner’s passing, Capitan has remained steadfast in expressing his devotion and guarding his resting place.
Capitan’s story began when he was adopted as a gift for his owner’s son, Damian, in 2005. Since then, he has been a faithful companion, staying close to his owner and his family. When Miguel Guzman passed away in 2006, Capitan’s loyalty and love for his owner became even more apparent.
After Miguel’s death, Capitan went missing, and the family searched for him but assumed the worst. To their surprise, they later found Capitan at Miguel’s burial site in a cemetery in central Argentina. He had returned to guard his owner’s grave, and he has been doing so for over six years.

Capitan rarely leaves the cemetery, and he spends his days wandering around but always returns to Miguel’s resting place every night at precisely six o’clock. His widow, Veronica Guzman, was puzzled by how Capitan managed to locate the cemetery on his own, as they had never taken him there before.

Hector Baccega, who runs the cemetery, and his team have taken on the responsibility of looking after Capitan. They ensure that he is cared for and have witnessed his unwavering dedication to guarding his owner’s grave.

Despite numerous attempts by the Guzman family to bring Capitan back home, he insists on remaining at the cemetery, and Damian believes that Capitan will continue to stay there until the end of his days. The deep bond and love between Capitan and his owner, Miguel, serve as a beautiful example of the special connection that can exist between humans and their canine companions. Capitan’s loyalty and devotion have touched the hearts of many and remind us of the profound impact that pets can have on our lives.
