Seeking food at the right home, the cat unexpectedly gets adopted by a couple who already have her brother, creating a serendipitous family reunion.

About three months ago, a cat named Lottie showed up outside Allison Ilcken’s home, looking for food. She and her family started leaving out food, and Lottie consistently returned for several days. No one claimed her, so they brought her to safety with the help of a humane trap.

At first, Lottie was terrified and hissed and swatted out of fear. However, with patience, treats, and reassurance, she started to relax and become more comfortable. After being spayed, Lottie became remarkably lovey and affectionate.

Allison noticed that Lottie’s age and coat type were similar to a previous foster kitten named Berlioz, who was rescued from the same neighborhood about six months prior. Suspecting that they might be siblings, they had their hunch confirmed by the vet.

The couple who had adopted Berlioz learned about Lottie, and after some consideration, they decided to adopt her as well so she could be reunited with her brother. Lottie, now renamed Bellatrix, was initially nervous in her new home but quickly warmed up to her new parents. When reunited with her brother, now called Professor, Bellatrix was smitten and tried to get him to play. Professor was a bit hesitant at first, but they soon became inseparable.

Bellatrix and Professor do everything together, playing, zooming around the house, and snuggling up to each other. After being apart for months, they are now back with each other and closer than ever.
