In an astonishing display of resourcefulness, the cat waits on the road and seizes the opportunity to jump into an Uber when the door opens, eager to leave the streets and embark on a new chapter of safety and care.

Last month, an Uber driver in the Bronx area came across a black and white cat sitting in the middle of the road. The driver, who volunteers for Little Wanderers NYC, a local animal rescue, couldn’t ignore the stray and decided to check on him. As she opened the car door, the cat jumped right into the Uber, as if he was ready to be taken off the streets.

The cat, later named Tux, hopped on the dashboard and sat behind the steering wheel, looking as if he was expecting a ride to safety. The driver was surprised but happy to help. She noticed some scars and discharge from Tux’s eyes, indicating a tough life on the streets.

Tux was taken to the vet for evaluation and estimated to be around two years old. Despite his rough exterior, he was in overall good shape. Little Wanderers NYC arranged for a foster home for Tux, and he quickly acclimated to indoor life.

Tux was very affectionate and craved attention. He enjoyed chin scratches and cuddling with his foster family. The rescue treated his eye infection and provided him with a comfortable cat bed. Tux had some food insecurity issues from being a stray, but with reassurance and care from his foster family, he started to relax and enjoy his meals.

Tux is overjoyed with the love and care he receives in his foster home. He is looking forward to finding his forever home where he can be loved and cared for for the rest of his life.
