Two months after a devastating fire and losing the cat, the grieving mother was finally able to smile again.

The story of Bobbie Wason, a 65-year-old mother from Brentford, England, is one of immense tragedy and heartache. On November 14, 2022, her life was forever changed when a fire broke out at her home. Bobbie’s son, Ali Khan, was trapped inside the burning bedroom, and despite her efforts to save him, they were separated by thick smoke and flames. Tragically, Ali Khan lost his life in the fire.
To add to the devastation, all 16 of Bobbie’s beloved cats went missing after the fire. These cats were descended from Sherni, a female cat given to her on Mother’s Day years ago.
Bobbie tirelessly searched for her missing feline companions, but only recently did she receive a glimmer of comfort. One of her cats, a female named Queenie, resurfaced at the house that had been destroyed by the fire. Neighbors heard Queenie’s meows but were unable to rescue her.
Thankfully, the RSPCA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) was contacted and set up a cage-trap to catch Queenie. At the end of January, after surviving on her own for two months and 12 days, Queenie was safely returned to Bobbie. This reunion brought some much-needed solace to the bereaved mother, who had been through so much pain.
Bobbie described Queenie as a fighter, admiring her resilience during the challenging months she spent alone after the fire. Despite her immense grief over the loss of her son, Bobbie stays strong, knowing that Ali Khan is now in a better place. She asks for prayers for her son’s soul.
With Queenie’s return, 11 out of the 16 cats have been found, and one was adopted by another family. Sadly, five cats are still missing or presumed dead.
Bobbie’s story is a testament to the strength and love that humans have for their animal companions, even amid the most challenging and heartbreaking circumstances.
