In a frantic response to her cat’s cries in the garden, a woman rushed to find it had been hit by a car.

When Tracy Mansell heard her 8-year-old cat, Billy, crying in pain in the garden, she rushed to his side and discovered that he had been hit by a car. Billy was walking with difficulty and wouldn’t let Tracy touch him, but her husband managed to catch the distressed cat, who was less hostile towards him.

Realizing that Billy was in great pain and urgently needed medical attention, Tracy contacted PDSA, a charity providing veterinary care for pets in need. They directed her to their daycare service in Oldbury.

At the veterinary clinic, Billy received pain relief and was put under general anesthesia for an X-ray. The X-ray results showed that he had a broken pelvis and a major wound in his leg, consistent with injuries from a traffic accident.
The vet provided Billy with round-the-clock care and pain relief while also addressing issues with his ability to urinate properly due to the injuries. After three nights of hospitalization, Billy’s condition improved significantly.
Thanks to the excellent veterinary treatments, Billy was able to return home to his family with strict instructions for three weeks of rest. Tracy was immensely relieved to have him back and expressed gratitude to the medical team for their care and support during Billy’s recovery.
